+ -1 moreI scheduled the measure via e-mail. The contractor showed up on time to measure and provided good advice and options and discussed things I never considered. The bid was delivered as promised. After acceptance of the bid the the glass was cut and the shop called me sooner then expected for the install. The installers where very professional, quick and did an excellent job.

+ -1 moreTheir work was very professional, and ready as promised. All the edges were nicely smoothed. They had to very careful because we had to leave our furniture with them to assure the best fit. Work time was only a day or so.
Description of Work: We asked them to cut precise glass tops for several pieces of wood furniture, including one very tricky one that needed to allow for a harp piece on top.

+ -1 moreThis was a small job and some companies did not want to deal with it. Chevy Chase Glass came promptly to give me a quote. It took a little longer than I'd expected to get the glass installed, but not much. When they came, they did a good job. It seemed like the installer had not been given a full description of the amount of work it was going to be to fit the glass into the existing frame, but he was careful and persistent and was able to do it before our Thanksgiving company arrived. They were not the lowest bid I got, but a neighbor had had good experience with them and I felt I could trust them.

They were courteous and informative. they took great care not to damage or dirty any of the well finished spaces they worked in or passed thru. A big thumbs up.

+ -1 moreAfter only a few years, the windows have since fogged up and are not cleanable. We tried. We contacted Chevy Chase Glass and since they were visiting one of the neighbors home they agreed to come look at ours. Hugo, the representative on-site, attempted to clean unsuccessfully and indicated to us they'd likely have to replace them. I contacted his supervisor and on two different occasions and got a story about finding the right cleaner and maybe having to order it. With regards to replacing the windows, he offered he'd had to contact the manufacturer first and go down this whole path. He, I believe, Kevin, said he'd be in touch. I haven't heard back from them. I intend to keep trying to resolve this, since I believe they should stand behind their work. We're not talking hundreds of dollars here. It seems as though they only checked our problem, because it was convenient to do so while working with a neighbor of mine. Not impressed, but there is still time to redeem.
Description of Work: We had Chevy Chase install some lexan panels in a window/green house feature in front of our house January 2011 after some icicles from the heavy winter has destroyed the original glass. We were told they were a better option than replacing with glass.

+ -1 moreIt went great. They were very nice people and they are someone that I would go back to. They are on time for the appointments and they told me what's going on and giving me the cheapest price is good. They are also very friendly.
Description of Work: We were supposed to replaced some windows and Chevy Chase Glass Co. Inc. told me that I will get half the price if I bring them the windows and that's what I did. they replaced the glass and put it in the frame and I took it back.

+ -1 moreLong story short, if you can bring the project to them (their shop), they'll do the job well at an expensive but workable price. I called them for a few weeks and didn't get much of a response. I was persistent. First, they said they'd get back and then, they said their home-visit repairman was out of town for 10 days. I needed the mirror replaced, so I asked if I brought the very large sliding door to their store, could they do it. They said yes enthusiastically and did it in 32 hours at an expensive but workable rate, and they were SUPER helpful getting it into my awkwardly shaped trunk. Without their guys help, I could have never fit it. Glass and mirrors are sensitive, difficult, and sometimes dangersous to move, but if you can transport it yourself, I would recommend their services. As for waiting for them to book an at-home visit, not so much.

+ -1 moreTheir estimate was the lowest of three estimates. They arrived on time to install the glass. One piece of the three pieces of glass had to be cut 1/8 of an inch smaller. They left, cut it, and returned within the hour. Very professional and reasonably priced.

We love our new "old" windows. The new glass is so clear it looks like nothing is there. They were very punctual, hard working, and cleaned up their work area before leaving. Highly recommended.

Even though the job was scheduled per my convenience, the installers arrived at my home at 12:00 noon (the promised time window was 12:00 to 2:00). They were polite and professional while performing the work. The installers were fast, thorough and were thoughtful enough to clean up the work area. They accepted my personal check and were on their way in less than 1 hour. I found the finished job to have been performed in a craftsman-like manner. I am very pleased at the ultimate outcome, and the honesty of Chevy Chase Glass to recommend a reasonable solution, instead pushing an expensive replacement job. I have enjoyed my dealings with this company and will definitely contact them first for any future glass/mirror repair/replacement needs.
Description of Work: A mirror wall in my home needed to have 2 vent registers, a wall switch plate & a wall outlet plate replaced. The original items were barely hanging on by their old adhesive and the mirror had become discolored where the adhesive had been exposed. Chevy Chase Glass sent out an estimator within a week of my contacting them. The estimator was prompt, courteous and professional for our meeting. He listened well to my objective for making the mirror presentable again. While I had envisioned having to replace 3 wall-to-ceiling mirror panels to remedy the discoloration, this gentleman was able to see a much simpler and less expensive solution. He suggested that I have Chevy Chase Glass provide and install some vent covers that were just a little bit larger than the original ones, thus covering the discolored areas altogether. The price was so reasonable I decided to do the wall plate covers so I could replace the 1970's rotary dimmer switch and outlet to a more current designer style. They were willing to honor their estimate for the 2 months I needed to get other large jobs in the house taken care of first.

Description of Work: I cannot believe this company. They are absolutely excellent. Exceptional! I have used their services for many years for mirrors and glass. The last service was sometime in spring 2011. My 25+ year-old outdoor glass table top fractured. Eric, service man, picked up broken top and crew returned it in a timely manner perfectly repaired. Eric came to my home as scheduled. No 4-hour window. This is the standard of performance for this company. Jennifer called me with the exact cost before proceeding with repair. Sometime later I was installing the umbrella thru the glass table top and I upset the table and broke the new glass top. I called Jennifer and told her of my mishap. She insisted over my objection that the top would be replaced at a considerable discount. I was amazed and pleaded that it was my fault that glass broke. Long story short, the glass table top was replaced with tempered glass at considerable discount. Always, including big or small jobs, Jennifer and Eric have responded with professionalism, courtesy and this time with generousity.

+ -1 moreThe mirror over the vanity in the master bathroom had been cracked and we wanted to replace it before having the room painted. We took the mirror out ourselves (in retrospect, this was a mistake because it broke into several more pieces and we had a bit of difficulty in disposing of it). Chevy Chase Glass company was able to install a replacement mirror one week after I called. I gave them precise measurements and they accepted my decision that they did not need to come out and measure the space beforehand. Two workmen arrived and brought in the mirror. It was installed with a minimum or fuss. It was exactly the right size. They used a heavy duty type of glue to make the mirror adhere to the wall instead of the little plastic holders with screws. They assured me that this method was more secure. And it certainly looks better aesthetically! They made no mess. I paid with a check. The whole installation took less than one half hour. We have been very satisfied with the mirror and with their service. I would use this company again without hesitation.

They had to take part of the frame out to actually measure the extent of the glass. There was also tinting of the glass that was very involved. Ordered the glass and installed it. Very prompt for the installation and very knowledgeable.

+ -1 moreWhen I saw the frame going up around the surround I stopped them and told them it was incorrect. The installer told me frameless meant something different than what I thought. I told him to look at CRL (one of or the largest supplier of shower parts) and that I could have frameless sides. The quality of the product they brought out was very poor and I would not have used it even if it been the right thing. Later the owner did confirm to Horizon he was familiar with what I wanted and it appeared that there was misunderstanding between myself, Horizon, and the glass company. In their defense I will grant this is very possible with third party communication but the rudeness of the installer and quality of the product they brought out was so poor I did not use them to complete the project and hired another company.
