Whiskey Creek Golf Club: Where Nature Meets Golfing Grandeur
Whiskey Creek Golf Club is more than just a golf course; it's an experience that begins with a scenic mile-long drive through forest and field. As you approach, you're greeted by a landscape that feels both private and awe-inspiring. With a high ridge of hardwoods, a meandering creek, and diverse natural features like springs, streams, and meadows, it's a feast for the eyes and a balm for the soul.
The course, a brainchild of architect J. Michael Poellot and design consultant Ernie Els, a two-time United States Open Champion, is a marvel. It's been crafted not just to challenge golfers but to provide a visual spectacle that leverages its stunning surroundings. The views of the Catoctin Mountains alone are worth the visit.
After playing 18 holes on this historic track, the clubhouse beckons with its promise of fantastic food and drinks. The chef and his team have curated a menu that caters to all palates, while the extensive drink selection, featuring over two dozen varieties of whiskey, local brews, and signature drinks, ensures your post-game relaxation is as satisfying as your time on the course.
The turkey club sandwich and buffalo chicken tater tots appetizer I enjoyed were delicious, further enhancing the overall experience. The establishment is not only beautiful but also well-managed, with clean facilities and a friendly staff adding to its charm.
While the golfing experience is a bit pricey, especially when compared to other notable courses like Bulle Rock, it remains a fantastic place worth every penny for the ambiance, the service, and the course itself. Whiskey Creek Golf Club is a destination where every round of golf is accompanied by breathtaking views, excellent food, and a welcoming atmosphere. It's definitely a spot to linger and enjoy, whether you're on the course or relaxing on the porch.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 457211961Dec 18, 2022
This is a really nice golf course. It is an Ernie Els design and is in amazing shape, especially for December. I live in DC and my brother lives in Baltimore so the course is located in a great middle location for us to meet. What a treat.

Golf course is beautiful but the Marshalls are terrible!!!!!!!! They harass you to keep going faster even when other golfers are in front of you. Instead of an enjoyable round of golf, I felt like I was a target. Everyone in our group(20) felt the same way.

The golf course grounds and surroundings are stunning. The clubhouse and food are what leaves something to be desired.
We have come here on several occassions to either play at the driving range or to do a full 18-hole golf tournament. The drive in from the main road is nothing like any of the golf courses in the area. Staff are friendly, the grounds are nicely kept. Fresh cut green grass, rolling hills, and ruins of different buildings. Each portion of the course has a different feeling and there is even one hole in the back of the course that is very quiet and serene.
There were a few times that we have seen golf balls from other holes fly near us, which was unsettling but other than that the course is quiet and peaceful.
Golf carts have GPS maps along with hole distances.
The food in the clubhouse is basically fried food, I would expect higher quality from a golf course this nice. The clubhouse could use an overhaul on the decor but otherwise it is in good condition.
We have really enjoyed each time coming here and can't wait to be back in the spring.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Michael R.Columbus, OH02Oct 5, 2023
Do not give this owner a penny. Rude disrespectful and will tell you and 40 guys he does not need your money. Course is not in good shape. Greens are slowest in the state. Don't put yourself thru ungrateful screaming and cussing by the owner himself. I would tell any school to not go there, any outing go somewhere else, anyone looking to golf there is so many other courses that will be grateful and respect you and your friends

I played here about a year ago with my brother and my uncle. We took a drive down to Baltimore to visit him and my aunt. This course had been on my state-by-state golf course bucket list and I'm so glad I finally got to play with it. Such a beautiful golf course and I loved the elevation changes. It was a fun golf course to play and we al had a good time playing here on the last day of our trip. I'd definitely play here again!

Great track but consistently over five hours to play. Even though the GPS tells you you're behind pace of play the marshalls can't seem to remedy it.

Played on 12/12/20 with the boys and although the course was in good shape, i was perturbed by the lies of whoever was working the proshop that morning (mike maybe). Prior to our 8:42 tee time, i called in from the driving range to pay for my round and during that call, i explained to guy that 2 players were brothers so no issue rising together but me and our fourth would prefer to ride separate; this guy said no way because then he would have to allow others to do the same. While on #3, as i'm waiting for a buddy to tee off, i notice a group behind us with 3 carts, smh. the LIES.
To summarize, course conditions were nice, pace of play was acceptable, the LIES..no bueno. Restricting foursomes to utilize 2 carts per group is not the issue here, its the fact that some groups are allowed more than 2 carts while some arent, and that's some BS. happy holidays!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Eric S.Washington, DC136679Jan 7, 2022
Very good food at a great setting. The staff is very courteous and friendly. Everyone is always helpful from management down. This is the kind of place, when you are eating here, you think "why don't we come here more often"?

This place has not changed much over the years. Still a high end track with a small handful of absolutely stunning holes. You also get a upscale vibe from the moment you arrive. I like it when I'm here but it's still not my favorite place to go. Heard they are allowing more online deals for tee times which is great, but it's tough to pay rack rate here when there are so many other great options in the area. The course is always in great shape and the tee sheet usually isn't packed. There are a few holes here that are visually stunning and I can say are some of the best in Maryland. Outside of those it is a good track overall with a lot of elevation changes.
The GPS carts are great at first, but there are notices or ads that pop up several times per hole. We ended up unplugging ours after the first nine. Their practice facilities are just okay. The range still goes straight up a hill. There isn't much room where they put it unless they are able to use the land along their almost mile long driveway. The putting green is big but has such a big slope in the middle of it that it feels like two small putting greens instead.
What I want to conclude with a description of their last hole. It's a downhill, par 5 with a shell of an old stone house in the middle of the fairway. I absolutely love it. It's a reachable par 5 but I usually have to lay up because I hit it too close to the house. I have even seen a friend lay up through one of its windows just to see if he could do it. The green is guarded by a creek but there is some added relief short and left across the creek. Just a fantastic way to end.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
