Imagination Stage Presents Escape from Peligro Island: You Create Your Own Adventure Audiences are in control of the story in the U.S. premiere of a brand new live-action theatrical experience April 27, 2019- May 26, 2019 BETHESDA, MD (March 25, 2019). This spring, Imagination Stage presents a one-of-a-kind theatrical experience for audiences of all ages. Escape from Peligro Island is the theatre’s first-ever audience-driven performance. The show is reminiscent of the Choose-you-Own Adventure book series, Dungeons and Dragons, role-playing video games, and escape rooms in that the story is completely in the hands of the audience members! Every Escape from Peligro Island audience member will use a paddle to cast their vote on the protagonist’s actions in real time. From the moment the play begins, the fate of the hero, Callaway, rests in the audience’s hands. Will he time travel to the Wild West and meet a talking horse? Develop superpowers and fight crime in the future? Or have a crush on a vampire? No one- not the audience, not the actors, not the crew- will experience the same show twice, as there are 70 different ways the story could go. “We couldn’t be more excited to share the first show we have ever done in which the audience gets to decide the story!” says Escape from Peligro Island director and Imagination Stage Associate Artistic Director Kathryn Chase Bryer. “Escape from Peligro Island takes the best aspects of live theatre –never seeing the same show twice, audience participation in a communal experience- to new heights. Young audience members will be delighted both by the participatory nature of the show and by the larger-than-life adventure story, told with humor and lots of eye popping physical feats!” Escape from Peligro Island, written by Australian playwright Finegan Kruckemeyer, is best for ages 5+, and runs April 27, 2019 to May 26, 2019 in Imagination Stage’s Annette M. and Theodore N. Lerner Family Theatre. Tickets start at $15 and may be purchased online at www.imaginationstage.org, at the Imagination Stage box office, or via phone at 301-280-1660. Group rates are available. Our press performance will be at 1:30 p.m. on April 27 Press tickets and photos are available upon request. Contact [email protected] for more information.
