Bethesda Transportation Solutions Invites You to Celebrate Bike Months With Fun Classes And Events!

National Bike Month

Did you know that May is National Bike Month?

In addition to Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 17, BTS has worked with partners like Silver and the Washington Area Bicyclists Association (WABA) to plan other fun events that celebrate biking!

Bethesda Community Bike Ride - Wednesday, May 8

Join WABA and BTS for a guided bike ride! The group will be meeting at the Bethesda Metro Plaza near the Bikeshare Station at

6:30 p.m (pictured to the right). The ride will end at Silver on  Woodmont Avenue at 8:00 p.m. After the ride, show your proof of your participation in the Bike Ride at Silver and you will be rewarded for your hard work with a free Classic Margarita, along with Happy Hour specials on food and other drinks!

For the Bike Ride event, you will need to register and the cost is $10, unless you are a member of WABA or Capital Bikeshare, in which case it's free.

Bike FROM Work Meet-Up - Friday, May 17

We've decided not to limit the fun to the early morning hours anymore. We've teamed up with Silverlocated at 7150 Woodmont Avenue, along the Capital Crescent Trail, for a Bike FROM Work Meet-Up!

From 3:00-6:30 p.m. on Bike to Work Day, stop by Silver and bring along proof of your registration for Bike to Work Day and you'll receive a free Classic Margarita. They will also have over 30 food and drink selections at the bar and patio starting at $5!

Confident City Cycling Class - Saturday, June 1

We are working to make it as easy as possible to bike to work on Bike to Work Day, with the pop-up bike lanes and the May 8 Community Bike Ride, but we recognize that it can still be daunting to ride in urban areas. For that reason, we are holding a Confident City Cycling Class taught by a certified WABA instructor!

The class will be meeting at 11:00 am at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad Parking Lot (5020 Battery Lane) and will end with a short bike ride around Bethesda.
